It is no secret that I love my iPhone. And when the iPad came out I was very disappointed that it didn't include a front-facing camera. Why? Because, like many of you, I grew up with science fiction such as Star Trek and the Jetsons and dreamed of a future where I would sit in front of a screen and talk to people face-to-face.
When I saw the iPad I imagined iPads replacing the phones in my house. Finally, after all of the years of waiting, I could actually see the people I'm talking with. With today's announcement of the Apple iPhone 4.0 and its new front-facing camera and FaceTime app, we're getting closer to that reality. To further add to my excitement, I read this article entitled "How Video Chat Can Fight Climate Change" on Earth2Tech. In the article Katie Fehrenbacher talks about the surge in video chat which occurred during the aftermath of the Icelandic volcano eruption. Air travel was cut off. Video chat replaced business travel. Virtual meetings are the future.
The question remains...when will the Apple iPad come out with a front-facing camera?
